Hey Everyone,

I want to give you a long-overdue status report on what’s happening in my FUJI MTB world. It’s been a busy past few months working on MY2012 catalog, attending our sales meetings both domestic and abroad, getting ready for upcoming trade shows, and now my favorite part of the year: working on new bikes for next year!

I’m currently in Taiwan making sure everything is in order with our new frames, but I’m also getting to check out some new 2012’s! Check out this sneak peek:

The weather in Taiwan right now couldn’t be nicer – blue skies, fluffy clouds. Steven Fairchild (“The Fuji Road Guy”) and I have been getting out on our road bikes at the break of dawn. 5:30 a.m. comes far too early but not without its rewards. Check out this view:

While in foreign countries, you’ve gotta be ready to try some new foods – or you’ll starve! Occasionally, the food can put up a fight. But with persistence, all can be overcome. Even the tougher dishes:

Open and say “agh”

Back home in the states, I’ve been hitting a new set of trails at Nockamixon State Park. There’s about 8 miles of sweetly groomed single track that flows just right. For more info on the trails, check out Valley Mt Bikers website. But in the meantime, here’s a glimpse of the trail:

Our very own Brian McKinney, a member of our product development team, recently traveled out to Dealer Camp in Deer Valley, Utah, where he found time to hit the trails on his 2011 Fuji Reveal 1.0. Check out the video and post below!

Deer Valley Utah is the perfect venue to host Dealer Camp. You have amazing trails and twisty tarmac at your disposal to test out any ride of your choice.

I was able to take advantage of the DV trails and not break a sweat by hitching a ride on the chair lifts. My wife and I took the Silver Lake and Sterling Express lifts up from the Snow Park lodge to the top of Bald Mountain.  The view from 94,00 ft was pretty breathtaking.  But that was enough sightseeing; I wanted to see how fast we could get down the mountain!

We dove into Naildriver first, a fast section of trail that switchbacks down the first face of the mountain, and headed toward Super G Trees and the Bermy Trail.

Getting into the aspen groves was amazing.  The white trunks line the trails in a blur as you fly over the tacky dirt singletrack.  My wife Jennifer, on her 2011 Fuji Belle, took the lead on the Bermy Trail. With it’s steeped banked turns, you can really rip around the switchbacks.

We then dropped into Twist and Shout, which is a more technical trail – not as much flow as the previous trails but fun.  I then closed out the ride with some more technical riding on the Devo Trail.

The Reveal soaked up all the whoops on the flowy trails and gave good cushioning and control on the technical trails.  The 5” suspension never bottomed out – even on some big rock hits – and locked out nicely while climbing.

My words of advice for your next Utah ride: If you want to stay fast and flowy at DV, stick to the blue trails, but if you want to test your bike handling skills, hit some of the blacks.  Either way you’ll have a great time riding.

Fuji’s Annika Langvad, UCI Marathon World Champion, battled her way onto the podium in the 5th round of the World Cup in Windham, NY.

The Danish champion, of Fuji-sponsored Easton Rockets, finished 3rd in the Women’s Elite Cross-Country World Cup after overtaking Marie-Helene Premont in the final 100 meters of the race and surging to the finish line, 5 seconds ahead of the veteran rider. Annika is now 4th in the World Cup rankings.

Mountain bikes have been the focus of my riding since around 1991. One ride at Philadelphia’s Wissahickon Trail System and I was hooked. Ripping twisty single-track is what I love most, but all kinds of riding find their way into my spare time. Being a product manager at Fuji let’s me do some of the things I love most – design great mountain bikes, work within the bicycle industry, and travel the world in the name of our common love: bikes.

This weekend, I will be traveling to Windham, NY for the Mountain Bike World Cup event. I’ll be hanging with newly-crowned XC Marathon World Champ Annika Langvad, chatting with her about how her Fuji carried her to victory.
