Mattia Gavazzi (Diquigiovanni) keeps dominating the 14th edition of the Tour of Langkawi relentlessly. The Italian sprinter snatched his third stage win in the Malaysian national tour after dominating today’s bunch sprint at the end of the 3rd stage, a long loop around the city of Melaka over 186 kilometers.

Gavazzi overcame Sutton (Garmin) and Clerc (Ag2r), while FUJI-SERVETTO’s sprinter Hilton Clarke claimed an interesting seventh, after his team took control of the group’s pace in the last five kilometers, just like the Boys in Blue did in yesterday’s route. Prior to that, the leader’s team Diquigiovanni aborted an early escape from Ricardo Van der Velde (Garmin), Suk Seok Kyu (Seoul Cycling) and Ahmed Fallanie Ali (Malaysian National Team) at the 15-km mark. Gavazzi might get into more difficulties tomorrow, as the peloton rides through the first hills of the race in the fourth stage –Melaka-Bangi, 221 km.-, just before the real mountains show up on Friday, at the end of the Queen Stage towards the Genting Highlands (Sp. Cat.)
