Southern California Rep, Brenda Lyons entered the MTB racing scene and has found out that she really enjoys fat tire racing.
Lyons' first race was part of the
15th Annual Winter Series Presented by Shimano/Subaru and includes Cross Country, 4X, Downhill, and Super D. The race
page also features a great image of Lyons during the race.
Brenda's Race Summary:
“I recently got my hands on our 2009 Outland RC, and had been riding on the mountain mainly to cross-train for the upcoming road racing season. To my own surprise I got this sudden itch to get out there and see what racing the dirt would be like after so many years on the road. I jumped in a race at Fontana, and now I have to say that I’m totally hooked!
I started riding recently with a bunch of local fast guys, like Joe Lawwill and Brian Lopes, and being around them inspired me to get back on the start line, only this time on a full-suspension cross-country bike. The last time I raced my mountain bike it was a different scene, hard-tails were still in, steel was a big deal, and full-suspension racing bikes with disc brakes were the new thing!
Full-suspension is a whole new world for me! It makes me wonder where I have been for the last ten years but then I remember, oh yeah racing my road bike! Really though, I’m having a blast taking my bike to the trails, and although racing in the dirt is tough, I love the challenge and the atmosphere. It’s great to be back.”
