X-fusion
tubing is a revolutionary new heat treatable aluminum alloy containing magnesium,
silicon, copper and proprietary elements. The addition of magnesium and
silicon increase the tensile and yield strengths by 13-35% over other common
aluminum alloys that are currently used in bicycle frames. Copper ensures
that the material does not become brittle and helps retain the proper amount
of elongation for bicycle frame construction while the special elements
improve weldability.
The proprietary elements help maintain an extremely fine
crystalline grain structure even throughout the high temperatures of the
welding process and subsequent heat treatment process, thereby improving
the strength in the weld zone by up to 30% compared to other materials.
With the combination of its composition and special cold
working processes, this new tubing offers a very unique combination of high
strength, excellent formablility and weldability. This is the only aluminum
